OISE Library Overview
The Library of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto supports the graduate studies, initial teacher education, research and field development functions of the Institute. Further, it acts as a special library offering detailed information service to practitioners engaged throughout the province in improving Ontario's educational system. In order to provide this support, the Library has a specialized collection in the field of education including:

- complete microfiche holdings of the ERIC microfiche document series
- current and historical curriculum materials and textbooks

Curriculum Resources Collection
This
collection provides a comprehensive source of curriculum and
instructional materials in the field of education supporting
curriculum, program and teaching components of initial and continuing
teacher education.

The
Modern Language Collection was established as a response to the
professional needs of language educators for a resource collection and
dissemination service in second language pedagogy.

Women’s Education Resource Collection
Over
8,000 monographs in all areas of women's studies with particular
strengths in women and education, feminist studies, and women in
development. The collection has a strong Canadian component including
French language material.

Franco-Ontarienne Collection
The
material in the Collection franco-ontarienne (CFO) is principally in
the areas of languages and social sciences. The CFO has over 2500
volumes of learning materials related to the teaching of French as a
first language, to linguistics and sociolinguistics, and to
bibliographic research regarding Franco-Ontarians as well as to their
history.

Ontario Textbook Collection
The
Collection includes elementary and secondary school texts authorized or
approved for use in Ontario circa 1846 to 1970, as well as some
materials used in nineteenth-century schools but not approved by the
Ontario Department of Education.

Ontario Historical Education Collection
The
Collection includes numerous documents, mainly from the Ontario
Ministry of Education, formerly the Ontario Department of Education,
which cover the areas of elementary, secondary and teacher education in
the province from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day.
