The Virtual Library
Course Description
Navigate the world of online information . . . the Virtual Library
The move from paper to electronic information sources has dramatically changed the landscape of academic research, publishing, and scholarly communication. Fast-paced technological innovations shape our research practices as well as the ways we publish and share our work with others inside and outside our fields.
This seven-week online course will guide you through the many electronic research resources available at the University of Toronto—and beyond—and provide you with the necessary skills to use them effectively to enhance your own research. It will also cover things like tracking and analyzing citations, and organizing and sharing electronic information using citation management software such as Refworks and Zotero. Finally, the course will examine the ways that Web 2.0 technologies and the Open Access movement are changing the world of scholarly publishing and communication.
