Curriculum Resources Collection
This collection provides a comprehensive source of curriculum and instructional materials in the field of education supporting curriculum, program and teaching components of initial and continuing teacher education.
Holdings
The collection consists of a variety of materials at all grade levels and in all subject areas, including conflict management, anti-racism, biology, mathematics, reading, language arts, dramatic arts, classroom management, and technical and vocational education.
The collections includes books, videos, cd-roms, dvds, kits, games, interactive multimedia, textbooks, teachers' guides, and lesson plans.
Ontario Curriculum Guidelines
All the Ontario Curriculum Guidelines are available, along with curriculum materials from other countries, principally the United States, Australia, and Great Britain.
Much of the material in the collection is selected to support all subject areas of the new Ontario Curriculum Guidelines.
To accompany these guidelines, secondary-level Course Profiles and Elementary Curriculum Units have been developed by partnerships of school boards and subject associations. These units of study have been written for teachers by teachers with expertise in a particular subject area. Elementary-level Curriculum Expectations are also available for each grade.
Who Can Borrow
Curriculum Resources materials circulate to OISE/UT students, faculty and staff for a two week loan period with three renewals. Consult the Circulation Services Leaflet for specifics on loans and fines connected with these collections.
The Trillium List
The Trillium List is the list of textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education for use in Ontario schools. The two curriculum collections that together make up the Trillium List are Circular 14 (C14) and Approved Learning Materials (ALM). Both collections are non circulating. Copies of textbooks on the Trillium List are also available in the circulating CR collection.
The Trillium List, which is updated regularly, is available online on the Ontario Ministry of Education's web site.
Videorecordings
A large collection of videorecordings also supports the Ontario curriculum. These videos are housed in two different areas:
- call numbers ranging from VC1 to VC4999 are located at the northwest end of the 3rd floor.
- call numbers that include the code CR are integrated into the main Curriculum Resources Collection.
Pictures
An extensive collection of pictures covers a number of subject areas such as seasons, holidays, animals, oceans and historical events.
Pictures may be borrowed for use in the classroom. The picture collection is located on the 3rd floor of the Library in file cabinets close to the seminar area.
