Women's Education Resource Collection
What is available?
Books:
Over 8,000 monographs in
all areas of women's studies with particular strengths in women and
education, feminist studies, and women in development. The collection
has a strong Canadian component including French language material.
Periodicals:
Many feminist
periodicals are now catalogued and integrated with the main OISE/UT
periodicals collections on the Concourse level of the Library. Holdings
of older periodicals no longer published and newsletters from women's
organizations in Canada and around the world are housed in WERC.
Vertical Files:
Archival
material, pamphlets, leaflets, reports from women's groups, as well as
governmental and non-governmental sources and other ephemera.
Indices, Abstracts, Bibliographies, Databases:
Women's Studies Abstracts, Canadian Women's Periodical Index, Wisconsin Bibliographies in Women's Studies, Gender Studies Database, Contemporary Women's Issues and the Canadian Women Film Directors Database, among others, are available.
How do I access the resources in WERC?
Most items in WERC are searchable in the University of Toronto's online catalogue. The location of each item is indicated by the call number followed immediately by OISE/UT WERC.
Location and Contact Information for WERC
WERC is located in the northeast corner of the second floor of the OISE/UT Library.
Patricia Serafini is responsible for maintaining
WERC. She is available for consultation Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am
to 5:00 pm. If you require in-depth assistance, it is recommended that
you make an appointment.
