OISE Library Services - Fall 2021

Please refer to this page for all updated information about the OISE Library hours and services for the Fall 2021 semester.

OISE Library Hours

Beginning on September 7th, the Ground, Mezzanine, and Concourse floors of the OISE Library will be open for current University of Toronto students, faculty, and staff only.

Opening hours for the Fall 2021 semester may be adjusted throughout the semester in accordance with public health guidelines and any measures put in place at the University of Toronto.

  • Tues. Sept. 7, 2021 – Sun. Sept. 19, 2021: Mon. – Fri., 11am – 3pm
  • Mon. Sept. 20, 2021 – Tues. Oct. 11, 2021: Mon. - Sat., 11am – 3pm

Please note that Robarts and Gerstein, the two largest libraries on the St. George Campus, will offer longer hours for those seeking after-hours study space and wifi access.

Using the OISE Library

Please enter the library through the main doors on the Ground Floor of the OISE Building. You may need to contact OISE Security to enter the building.

Non-medical masks or face coverings  and COVID-19 health screening self-assessment (via UCheck or a paper-based self-assessment log) will be required by all UofT libraries.

The OISE Library team will be working on-site to assist with questions about the OISE Library space and materials, including course reserves, library accounts, borrowing / returning / renewing library materials, retrievals, inter-library loans, and booking individual study rooms. In addition to the Library’s desktop computers, a limited number of laptop computers and battery chargers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis during the Library’s opening hours.

Access to OISE Library Collections

Since not all sections of the OISE Library are currently open, if you require a book from collections on the Second or Third floors, please ask at the service desk and we will retrieve the item for you.

With the reopening of libraries and access to the book stacks on the St. George, UTM, and UTSC campuses, the UofT Libraries’ Curbside Pickup Service has been discontinued. Access to digitized in-copyright books through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service will end September 7th.

Continued Online Support for Research and Instruction

OISE Librarians will continue to provide research support online during the Fall 2021 semester, including support with strategic literature searches, citation management, and all your other literature search needs. Our research consultations form, drop-in Zoom reference hours, and contact information can be found on the Reference and Research Services page.

We will also continue to work with instructors to develop course-embedded library research skills workshops and asynchronous learning materials. Customized library research modules and video tutorials, and research guides are available to help you develop advanced research skills in topics ranging from advanced literature searching and citation management to critically evaluating information sources. OISE students, staff, and faculty may also register for open registration workshops offered through the University of Toronto Libraries in a variety of additional topics including advanced literature searching, citation management, scholarly publishing, thesis formatting, citation management, and 3D printing.
